Zambians eagerly await the final outcome of the August 11th general election. As predicted, the results released so far show a tight contest between the incumbent president Lundu Edgar of the Patriotic Front (PF), and his arch-rival, Hakainde Hichilema of the United Party for National Development (UPND).
According to the results table published on the official website of the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ), President Lundu Edgar (PF) currently leads. He currently has 699,960 votes, while Hakainde Hichilema has 644,132. Other contenders trail behind by large margin. Nawakwi Edith of Forum for Democracy and Development (FDD), the only female presidential candidate in the race has 10,205 votes.
The presidential election results have been released in 69 constituencies out of the 156 constituencies in the country.
There are no details available yet for the national assembly, mayor/council chairpersons and the 2016 referendum elections, as results have not yet been released.
