It was all cheers as the hosts; of the Black Entertainment Television (BET) Awards 2016,  Tracee Ellis and Anthony Anderson were introduced, they went on to do a hilarious rendition of the Tony Award winning Broadway play Hamilton.

Shortly after, America’s sweetheart Taraji  P. Henson, (Cookie” from the FOX TV Series Empire) announced the winner of the  “Best Group” category; Drake and Future. Multi-talented actor and producer Terrence J took the opportunity to express his feelings about the recent happenings around the world, he talked about Brexit and terrorism in America, urging Americans to vote smart in the coming election as your VOTE is your VOICE, he later went on to announce Bryson Tiller as the winner of the “Best Male RnB/Pop Artist” category. Erykah Badu, Bilal, Stevie Wonder and Madonna put on an awe-inspiring performance in honor of the late legendary Prince, “the purple rain crooner”, it was indeed a tribute fit for a “Prince”. Air Force Major Kenyatta Ruffin was commended by BET and the American Air Force for his humanitarian services, which was heart touching. Fat Joe, French Montana and Remy Ma also performed.

Perhaps what was most inspiring was a heartfelt, honest, and raw speech by actor and activist Jesse Williams, who took home the “Humanitarian Award”.
