The Super Eagles duo of John Obi Mikel and Kelechi Iheanacho were on winning sides as Chelsea dismantled Bournemouth 4-1 while Manchester City annihilated Stoke City 4-0 in Saturday’s Premier League matches.
Nigeria’s Iheanacho was the hero for the Citizens as he grabbed a brace in brilliant fashion; his first came in the 64th minute after Fernando and Sergio Agüero had put the team ahead.
In the 74th minute he netted his second goal to put the match beyond the reach of the away team (Stoke City) as Manchester City pocketed a comfortable three points ahead of their UEFA Champions League first leg clash against Real Madrid on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, Mikel was on the field from start to finish as he continued to show his dominance in the heart of the team’s defensive midfield.
His timely tackle and quick release of the ball provided the team with smooth running of the attack as goals from Pedrito, a double from Eden Hazard and Willian was enough for Chelsea to silence the home crowd.
