Nigeria’s Minister of State for Labor and Productivity, James Ocholi passed away in a car crash on Sunday, he was 55-years-old.
Ocholi was confirmed dead after a ghastly motor accident along the Kaduna-Abuja highway and his son also tragically died at the scene of the accident. According to an eyewitness the crash was caused by a burst tire that caused the car to somersault several times.
Those familiar with the incident said his wife, who slipped into a coma after the accident, died hours later in the hospital.
His driver remains in critical condition at Doka clinic, several kilometers from Kaduna, as of the time of this report.
In 2011, Ocholi had aspirations to be governor of Kogi State on the platform of the defunct Congress for Progressive Change. And between 2013 and 2014, he was deputy national legal adviser of the All Progressive Congress.
Last year, he sought the APC gubernatorial ticket at the party’s primary election, losing to the late Abubakar Audu. He was appointed minister in 2015.
The minister attended Ochaja Secondary School, and the University of Jos. He graduated from the Nigerian Law School in 1986 and was admitted to the Nigerian Bar the same year.
