Osinbajo Assumes the Mantle as Buhari Starts Vacation


The ball of responsibilities has bounced into the court of Vice-president, Professor Yemi Osinbajo on Friday, following the absence of President Muhammadu Buhari from office for the next five days, as the president goes on holiday.

President Buhari did represent Nigeria on Wednesday during the EU plenary session of the parliament in Strasbourg, France and on Thursday he participated in the London Summit on the Syrian civil war.

According to a statement by Buhari’s media adviser; Femi Adesina, the destination where President Buhari will spend the rest of his vacation will remain anonymous to the public.

In accordance with the section 145(1) of Nigerian Constitution, after giving the official notification to the President and the speaker of House of Representatives, Vice-president Yemi Osinbajo was officially confirmed to handle the ceremonial and official obligations of the country for the next five days.

President Muhammadu Buhari will be back in the country sometime during the weekend, and his official participation in office will commence immediately post return.
