Football, American football that is, has almost taken over as Americans favorite sport and pastime.

The stage is set for Superbowl 50 (LXXXI) , Sunday, February 7. You can get glued to your television or live streaming devise starting at 6:30 pm Eastern time. The football elite will be playing at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California.

Coldplay, Beyoncé and Bruno Mars will perform at the half-time show. Beyoncé was the performer of the halftime show at Super Bowl XLVII in 2013 and Bruno Mars was the headliner for Super Bowl XLVIII one year later in 2014.

Many watch football not only for the game but the commercials too. This year many football fans can’t wait to see what ideas brands have come up with. The last time CBS aired the Super Bowl, three years ago, the average 30-second spot cost $3.8 million dollars!

This weekend the clash of the titans begins with an oldie but goodie Broncos quarterback, Peyton Manning trying to clinch his second Superbowl ring and ready to win Carolina newbie quarterback, Cam Newton trying to get his first win.

The game itself has critics and sports fans alike gleefully excited as the match-up is rumored to be what could result in the best Superbowl ever!

However, Benwikere will not play in Sunday’s game due to a broken leg.

“It’s a bittersweet feeling. You definitely want to participate,” Benwikere said. “But God has a plan and I just have to rehab and make sure I make another Super Bowl.”
