The ‘Kolanut boy’ as he’s fondly called in the Nigerian Glo Premier League came on from the substitute bench to score a hat-trick in Nigeria’s 4 – 1 bashing of Niger, on Monday, at the Stade Regional Nyamirambo. The victory shoots the team top of group C with three points while Tunisia and Guinea have one point a piece after playing out a 2 – 2 draw.
Despite been tagged to be the star of the tournament in Rwanda, the Abia Warriors striker, who’s already looking forward to the crunch match against Tunisia on Friday, insisted that God Almighty and the technical crew were the brain behind his goal scoring form.
“I am grateful to God for giving me the grace to score a hat-trick against Niger on Monday because it’s always a rare opportunity. Besides, I thank coach Sunday Oliseh for selecting me for that encounter and I am delighted I proved him right” he said.
“Getting the three points is all that matters as far as football is concerned and at this point we are determined to improve the standard of our game against Tunisia on Friday” he added.
A win for the Super Eagles against the Northern African squad will automatically book a quarter final ticket for the team.
