Critically acclaimed actress and singer Uzoamaka Nwanneka “Uzo” Aduba was one of two Nigerians nominated for a Golden Globe in 2016.
The contenders for this year’s awards included three Africans: Idris Elba, David Oyelowo, and Uzo Aduba was nominated for her role as “Crazy Eyes” in the Netflix original series ‘Orange is the New Black’.
In 2014 she won the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series for her role and in 2015 she won a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series. She is the only actress to win Emmy Award recognition in both the comedy and drama genres for the same role.
On the red carpet we learned Aduba is fluent in her native Igbo language, what she loves most about the village and her favorite Nigerian food among other things.
