Super Eagles midfielder, Ahmed Musa has charged free-scoring Odion Ighalo not to leave Watford for any other clubs in Europe during the January transfer window.
Ighalo has maintained a rich vein of form this season, scoring 14 goals for the Hornets as the team is placed ninth on the EPL Table with 29 points.
Despite rumors linking him to clubs like Tottenham, Atletico Madrid and Liverpool in a mega bucks deal, Musa is of the opinion that the Nigerian international should focus on developing his game at Watford.
Musa noted, “when it comes to issues like these, you usually leave the decision to the person that it affects directly so it is not really for me to say”.
“However, if I was to advise him, I would ask him to remain at Watford at least for now because if he leaves, it could affect him”.
“I also believe he will score a lot more if he chooses to remain at Watford,” Musa said during a radio interview.
In a bid to ward-off interested suitors, Watford have since issued an official statement to the effect that Ighalo is not for sale under any circumstances.
The Super Eagles captain concluded by voicing his sentiments on the “important” role he expects Ighalo to play in Nigeria’s 2017 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying double header with Egypt in March.
“He [Ighalo] is one of the players we expect to play an important role in the two games against Egypt in March”. “I am sure he will do well and that will help us to qualify for the AFCON,” Musa said.
