The Niger Delta Greenland Justice Mandate, on Tuesday, have blown up another oil facility belonging to the Nigerian Petroleum Development Company (NPDC) at Ogor-Oteri in Ughelli the northern Local Government Area of Delta State.
This latest development will come as a setback to the government considering the fact that the Niger Delta Avengers (NDA) promised President Muhammadu Buhari of their plan not to continue to attack oil facilities.
However, the Niger Delta Greenland Justice Mandate (NDGJM), a new group in the region has claimed responsibility for this latest attack, having threatened the federal government of their impending attacks this month. They have also issued another strong warning that staff and management working in any of the oil and gas facilities should evacuate the region or face further consequences.
The group in a statement issued by its official spokesperson, Aldo Agbalaja, said, “At about 0300hrs of today Tuesday, 30 August 2016, the uproot team B of the NDGJM brought down the Ogor – Oteri major delivery line Operated by NPDC/Shoresline.”
“To this end, we are alerting all those working in the UQCC/UPS Erhomukokwarien in Ughelli, Eriemu Pigging Manifold in Agbarha, Otorogun Gas Plant, Olomoro Flow Station, Warri Refinery, Port-Harcourt Refinery Eleme, Ob-Ob, and Obite Gas Plants in Omoku to evacuate because what is coming to those facilities is beyond what anybody has seen before”.
“We do not want innocent blood being spilled therefore we advise all indigenes living in the vicinities of the facilities to relocate for the time being.”
The swampland region – which produces most of the oil that makes up 70 percent of government revenue – has been hit by pipeline attacks since January, which have cut the OPEC member’s output by 700,000 barrels a day to 1.56 million bpd.
