The bamboo wrist watch has taken the accessory market by storm. It’s currently being produced by virtually every country in the world right now, by major fashion houses, but the origin of this statement piece is from South Africa.
In August 2012, Amy De Castro launched the bamboo wrist watch. It all started at a Startup Entrepreneurship Diploma Program at the University of Cape Town.
Amy and her team received R50 loan to come up with concepts and designs that would make headway in the South African market, hence the birth of the bamboo wrist watch. First, they sold in local Cape Town markets, and gathered direct feedback from buyers, eventually, their outstanding work soon gained social media attention and the bamboo wrist watch has become a huge success and a great environmentally friendly fashion accessory.
The wrist watch is suitable for both men and women, the stylish and elegant wooden frame shows its class and uniqueness. Its a must have, so I’m getting one.
