The President of Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote called on fellow Nigerians to partner with him in rendering humanitarian support to the people at internally displaced persons (IDP) camps across Nigeria. He called on fellow prominent Nigerians to lend their corporative support to the people who were displaced by terrorists or any form of social vices in Nigeria.
According to Dangote, his major concern is the surprising increase in the population of humans in the IDP camps across the country. These people have been subjected to hunger since the beginning of terrorist attacks in some parts of the country. He noted that the greatest achievement any wealthy man or organization could happily boast of should be the sowing of funds and amenities into the life of these people that need urgent care.
Aliko Dangote donated N2 billion and food varieties which cost millions of naira to various IDP camps around the country. He still believes that his efforts are not enough and more needs to be done.
While receiving the North East Coalition in his office last weekend, Dangote said, “It is not right for us to leave these people to suffer in a painful way like this at the IDP camps because they are not guilty of any offense. The government alone can’t solve their problems especially during this bad economy situation. They are our fellow citizens who need humanitarian support from us at this sensitive time”.
He also said that the most important thing is the physiological needs and nutrition of the people at the IDP camps. Dangote promised that other schemes such as job creation and entrepreneurship assistance will be initiated by the Dangote Foundation soon.
Records show that Dangote Group has donated N6.3 billion to the IDP camps in five years apart from other materials such as food which cost more money. The head of the Coalition, Galadima Musa commended Dangote for all his support towards displaced people.
