The records on the radio hint summer time is around the corner, not much for the weather in Nigeria but more for the vibe: the parties, the hook ups, the food, and the slay-age.
Starting off with beauty and skin, something I consider very basic but very essential to self-love and confidence is to take care of the skin you are in.
Once your skin is fresh and clean, the trend that seems on an all time high this year, are neutral palettes, even with the face beat squad, beating towards natural sun-kissed looks.
I spoke to beauty insider from The Beauty Project Nigeria, Efua who had some exclusive summer essentials and tips to share.
For Skincare Efua says:
Clay masks for those with oily skin, after washing your face, spritz rose-water for the calming and soothing scent.
Use SPF lotion and black soap this summer. I recommend CUE moisturizer, a made in Nigeria brand by Skincare specialist Uchenna Gbonemie.
For makeup Efua says:
Eyeliner as an everyday beauty lift trick, for an intense line I recommend Sephora Mascara and Maybelline Illegal length for longer lashes.
For makeup application: I recommend three brushes; real technique foundation brush, sculpting brush and Kuddy cosmetics eye brushes.
For the summer use primer before applying your eyeshadow! I recommend the LA Girl Pro eye primer.
For Lips: ColourPop Matte lip glosses, fave summer color: Rooch!
Highlighters are also really in now, I recommend the ColourPop Glow Up which is great for all skin tones.
Powder and Foundation: YSL Touche Eclat is really nice on my skin, I recommend the MAC Mineralize for setting your face powder (that’s what I use) and the Sacha Buttercup powder to set highlights.
Lips: moisturize and line your lips before applying lipstick for best effect.
Colors are in for African skin: nudes and the bright alternatives colors like blue and black, vampy colors are in too.
