Copa America Centenario: U.S. Gets Historic 4-0 Win Over Costa Rica

It was a sweet victory for the United States of America as the team boosted their chances of qualifying from group A after beating rivals Costa Rica 4-0 at the Soldier Field Stadium on Wednesday in the Copa America Centenario.

The hosts wasted no time as they got an early lead in the 9th minute through Clint Dempsey’s penalty before Jermaine Jones and Bobby Shou Wood scored in the 37th and 42nd minutes, respectively to take a comfortable lead in the first half.

Further goals from Graham Zusi in the 87th minute completed the route for the home team who had lost their first match 2-0 to Colombia last week Saturday. The win moves the Yanks to second spot on the log and they would need a point or victory against Paraguay in their last match on Saturday to book their place in the quarterfinal of the competition. A delighted U.S coach, Jürgen Klinsmann said that the players have done well to have overcome Costa Rica and hope they will replicate such a performance in their last match.
