African celebrities and footballers continue to pour in their heartfelt messages to one of the world’s greatest boxers, Muhammad Ali, who passed on Friday after battling with Parkinson’s disease.

Ali, 74, died Friday night at 9:10 MT, from what officials said was the result of septic shock due to unspecified natural causes.

The three-time heavyweight champion had been at Honor Health Scottsdale Osborn Medical Center in Scottsdale, Arizona, with what family spokesman Bob Gunnell initially had described as a respiratory issue.

A public memorial is scheduled for Friday at 2 p.m. ET at the Yum! Center, a 22,000-seat basketball arena in the city where Ali grew up and began his amateur career as a 12-year-old.
