Two of Nigeria’s rising stars in the England, Kelechi Iheanacho and Alex Iwobi had an impressive game in Sunday’s Premier League clash as Manchester City were held 2-2 by Arsenal at the Etihad Stadium.
Both teams know that a win would boost their chances of clinching the automatic ticket for the Champions League without going through the playoffs and began the game like a house on fire.
However, what was of interest was the roles being played by Iheanacho and Iwobi as they orchestrated a few of the attacking moves in the heart of the midfield.
Though they were both substituted in the second half for Raheem Sterling and Theo Walcott, the Nigerians made a bold statement with their fantastic display among the stars on parade.
Meanwhile, a goal from Sergio Agüero in the 8th minute was cancelled out immediately by Olivier Giroud in the 10th minute.
A goal from Kevin De Bruyne in the 51st minute was also leveled up by Alexis Sánchez in the 68th minute to help the Gunners pick up a vital point away from home.
