Enyimba are through to the money spinning stage of the CAF Champions League after beating Étoile Sportive du Sahel 4-3 with penalties, on Wednesday, at the Sousse Stadium.
The Tunisian team began the game on a bright note as they cancelled Enyimba’s three goal advantage before the end of 90 minutes.
However, during extra time both teams failed to score what could be the back-breaking goal as they defended cautiously.
During penalty shoot outs, the People’s Elephant converted four against Etoile’s three penalty kicks to eventually book their place to the group stages of the CAF Champions League.
For the record, Enyimba has won the CAF competition two times and will be hoping to reclaim the title this season.
