Ex international, Taribo West says he is confident that newly appointed Super Eagles coach, Samson Siasia will overcome the threat being posed by the Pharaohs of Egypt and qualify for the 2017 African Cup of Nations.
The two teams are set to meet in a double-header on March 26 in Kaduna and Cairo respectively in what could determine which team would qualify as the sole group G winner for the bi-annual tournament in Gabon.
Nigeria sits second with four points while Egypt are top of the group with six points after two games played.
However, Taribo insisted that Siasia has what it takes to beat Egypt and qualify the Super Eagles to the pinnacle of football in Africa.
“I am indeed supporting the appointment of Samson Siasia as the coach of the Super Eagles. I sincerely believe he’s going to deliver the African Cup of Nations to Nigeria regardless of Egypt’s threat in the group” West said.
“It would be a very sad outcome if the Super Eagles didn’t qualify for the Nations Cup, something which could affect their chances of qualifying for the 2018 World Cup in Russia,” he added.
