Pharoahs head coach, Hector Cuper, has revealed that the duo of Mohamed Salah and Mohamed Elneny would be the x-factors against Super Eagles in the forthcoming 2017 African Cup of Nations qualifier at the Ahmedu Bello Stadium in Kaduna.
Egypt is top of Group G of the 2017 AFCON qualifiers with six points, following back-to-back wins over Tanzania and Chad and are poised to picking the only ticket of the group. The team are in camp for a warm-up friendly match against Burkina Faso in Alexandria on February 27.
Cuper, who’s delighted with the form of Salah and Elneny in Europe, posited that the duo are humble and raring to go against Nigeria in Kaduna.
“The fact that Salah and Elneny are playing for big European clubs is beneficial for the national team,” Cuper said in a press conference.
“They are very humble and every time they adapt quickly with their teammates for the sake of the team,” the Argentine tactician continued.
“The Burkina Faso match will be the best preparation for the Nigerian clash despite the absence of foreign based players. It will be a good opportunity to examine the local players the best in the league at the time being,” he explained.
“The national team’s door is still open for any new players ahead of the Nigerian encounter. The selected players must do their best to prove their worth and cement a place in the starting line-up,” Cuper added.
