She competed at the London 2012 Olympic Games and the former African champion revealed that she’s determined to lead the Nigerian team to a medal title in 2016.
“I am still expecting to hear from the federation as par preparation for the Rio Olympic Games because there is nothing I can do without them. I am glad that I will be representing my country in Brazil and I can’t wait to make an impression at the games.” Oshonaike said during a television interview on Wednesday.
In regards to her age and current skill level Oshonaike said “age has nothing to do with me considering the fact that I am the only Nigerian female player to be ranked fourth in Africa. Besides, what about other athletes who are competing with me in Africa? There is no argument that I need to improve on my game but you should be happy that I am among the top tennis stars in Africa”.
