After Nigeria trashed South Africa 3 – 0, on Tuesday and played a 1 – 1 draw against Angola’s Palancas Negras in an international friendly game on Wednesday, retired footballer, Tijani Babanginda has revealed that the team is determined to win the CHAN tournament in Rwanda which kicks-off on January 16th.
The Super Eagles B squad will be featuring in the competition for the second time after coming out third in the last edition that was hosted in South Africa in 2014.
Babanginda, who is a member of the backroom staff, insisted that the team can win the title with the level of preparation and the players in their disposal.
“The last time , we qualified for the semifinals and finished in third place”.
“This time, we want to win the title. Any other outcome will be unacceptable”.
“Though in football, anything can happen but this team is going to Rwanda to fight and see that they get the trophy,” Babangida said.
He added that the fighting spirit of the team puts them in a great position to beat all-comers in Rwanda.
“I have watched this team from the qualifying matches in the CHAN and I see how they play. Also, the players in the squad are the best in the league. We have full confidence in the boys and we are hoping for success in Rwanda,” he concluded.
